Your relationship with the OD community is an integral part of your success. Your commitment in this relationship is to reinforce the OD’s role as the Primary Eye Care Provider. Communication is key in this process and sadly, where most of the practices I’ve worked with drop the ball.

You will learn effective and easy ways to communicate with the OD community without having to hire extra staff or spend hours on the phone. From the moment a patient walks into your office for an evaluation, your communication with their primary eye care doctor will be starting. When you complete your surgical service and ensure the patient is safe to return to their OD, you’ve reinforced your commitment and confidence in shared care between the patient and the OD. Any fees to cover the cost of follow up care should be paid in a timely manner.
